Forgot your self hosted wordpress password? Did your wordpress blog got hacked? Or just want to play around with wordpress?
Here is a tutorial how to reset your wordpress password using phpmyadmin from your cPanel.
Steps:
1) Open phpmyadmin from the cpanel.
2) Select your wordpress database
3) Select users table. It should look something like wp_prefix+’users’. In my case it is ‘wp_users’
4) Now click the pencil like(edit) button for the user you want to change the password.
5) Put the value ‘$P$BgL1P3Aiehvwo6ixc1ESGuVG2gal0Z1′ in the user_pass field and hit the ‘Go’ button
Now your password has been changed to ‘password’. Login to the blog with
Username: something you have stored
Password: password
Change your password to something secure immediately. If you were hacked upgrade to latest version of wordpress, upgrade your plugins or disable plugins you don’t absolutely need. You can also hire an expert to find out how your account was hacked.
